Frequently asked questions.

Are you a doctor?

No, I am not a medical doctor. I am a Certified Physician Assistant, specializing in spine and orthopedic care. Through Coastal Health Advocates, I function primarily as a Health Consultant. My role is focused on helping individuals understand their conditions and explore management options so that each client can make informed decisions about their health and well-being . While my services complement the recommendations of medical doctors, they are not intended to replace or substitute their expertise.

Can you prescribe medicine?

No. In my role as a Health Advocate, I do not prescribe medications or make recommendations about prescription medications. Your medical doctor will manage all medications.

Do you take insurance?

No, my services as Health Advocate are not covered by insurance and deemed “above the standard of care.” I am here as your partner to empower you with knowledge so that you can make informed decisions that are right for you.

What is your training?

I have completed extensive training as a Certified Physician Assistant with a specialization in orthopedics and non-surgical management of acute and chronic spinal conditions. I am committed to continuous learning and have pursued additional training to expand my knowledge in Functional Medicine and GI Mapping.

How does it work?

Our services begin with a comprehensive health history assessment based on the information you provide in your intake form. We then conduct a thorough case review with each client to develop a personalized plan. Specifically, my expertise is in musculoskeletal and spinal conditions with additional training in Functional Medicine. Follow-up consultations are scheduled as needed to address challenges as they come up or for any developing conditions or pain.

Can your services replace my primary care physician’s care?

No, Coastal Health Advocates is not a substitute for the care provided by your primary care physician (PCP). While I offer guidance, my services are meant to complement your existing medical care. I strongly encourage you to continue following up with your PCP and consider their recommendations when making any changes to your treatment plans.
